In
1993, the League, in collaboration with the Boys'
and Girls' Clubs of Edmonton, presented workshops to children 6 to 12
years of age to provide them with the skills and knowledge necessary to
prevent them from being sexually abused. The program was unique in that
it provided one-to-one training in personal safety to children paired with
trained volunteers who were guided by an experienced facilitator.
Kids in the "No" workshops were first delivered to children associated with the Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Edmonton and then expanded to include children from the community at large. The program was turned over to the Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Edmonton in 1996. |
